Spofforth in Bloom
Brief History

Spofforth is a charming village just 3 miles from Wetherby and 7 miles from Harrogate, our Local Borough council.
Its origins can be dated back pre-Doomsday Book and was once the residential home of the Percy family. (the Duke of Northumberland). Spofforth Castle is the ancestral home of the Percy family, although not a true Castle more a fortified manor house, and is now owned by English Heritage and maintained by Spofforth Parish Council. Whilst its rural heritage has been retained, Spofforth is also a much desired commuter village.

Spofforth in Bloom was formed in 1985 and is now run by a dedicated committee who are responsible for planning and progression. Our aim is to keep the village looking attractive, neat and tidy and acceptably manicured whilst retaining its character and rural nature.
We raise all our own funds by organising many varied events and accepting very kind donations and sponsorship. Every penny is spent within the village in providing plants, shrubs, trees, planters, Spring and Summer baskets and in completing projects designed for long term enhancement of our environment.
Whilst competing maybe a bit of fun our aim is to make our village an attractive place to live for everyone for, 365 days of the year.
